Summary:  The Human Resources Coordinator provides support to the HR department in a variety of HR administrative duties, including candidate sourcing and recruiting, employee records maintenance and HRIS  administration, training, and other general HR functional areas.  This position handles highly confidential information.

Responsibilities: Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance employees and supervisors and answer general questions regarding HR programs and policies. Liaise with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits etc.). Redirect HR related calls and/or distribute mail and e-mail correspondence to the appropriate person on the team. Maintain records of personnel-related data via established HRIS and electronic filing systems to ensure all employment record-keeping requirements are met. Act as subject matter expert for HRIS system functionality in assigned areas and provide support and training. Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: Associates degree in business administration, HR, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Proven experience as an HR coordinator, or other relevant human resources/administrative position. Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices; ability to handle confidential information. Proven Office 365 experience (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook). Experience with HR databases, HRIS, and applicant tracking system software, including data input, report writing, and administration preferred (we use JD Edwards and SAP products). Knowledge of sourcing tools, including resume databases, online communities, and social media. Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; willing to present information in front of a group. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data. Time management and organizational skills – able to complete work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work as part of a team to collaborate on projects. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic and changing environment. SHRM and/or HRCI certification a plus. Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing ability (English - Spanish) a plus.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:  Most work performed in a standard office environment; required to sit or stand for long periods working on a computer. Frequently required to communicate professionally in-person, over the phone, and via e-mail. Regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects such as files, paperwork and office tools/equipment. Pipelayer/Laborer

Summary:  Assists in the tasks associated with the utility construction and installation of utility pipe, including Lay out, assembly, installs, and backfills utility and drainage pipe lines and components.

Responsibilities: Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives. Assist with installation of underground water, sewer, and similar utilities components. Engage in multiple forms of physical labor necessary for completion of assigned projects, including work in trenches and similar environments. Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of one year of utility pipe installation or experience as a laborer preferred. Ability to understand and adhere to safety procedures, including OSHA trenching and shoring requirements. Ability to follow proper rigging & lifting procedures for pipe and other materials. Previous experience in other areas of construction preferred. Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required.

Excavator Operator

Summary:  Works with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe on line and grade.

Responsibilities: Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives. Safely operates a large excavator. Ensures trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade with proper safety sloping or protection. Responsible for placement of water, storm & sanitary sewer pipe in the excavation. Ensures all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner. Follows directions of ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement and grading. Ability to cut grade with minimal time spent on excavating to ensure production is on schedule. Knowledge of changes in soil conditions and materials that impact operations. Conducts trench work so that it meets OH&S requirements. Knowledge of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensures safe work procedures are followed during lowering of materials into the excavation. Perform minor maintenance to excavation equipment; report problems or defects to mechanic for repair.

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Two years plus of excavator operation for utility work. Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Utility/Construction Foreman

Rapid City, SD

Summary:  Manages small to large construction projects in single or multiple specialty areas. Requires regular communication with internal and external customers such as subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and senior management.

Responsibilities: Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safe practices as part of Simon’s safety culture. Work with superintendents and project managers to ensure that assigned projects remain on time and on budget. Organize and coordinate the daily activities of assigned crew and equipment pertaining to scope of work, including delegation of tasks, and holding individuals accountable. Read and interpret project plans and specifications. Understand, interpret, and follow surveying markers and plans including slope stakes, control points, lines, grades, etc. Direct equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of materials. Coordinate the supply of materials for assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials to project site. Support and promote employee training, mentoring, and development; address performance concerns as needed. Operate heavy equipment required for project completion; operate company vehicles to move people and equipment between job locations and company facilities. Perform skilled work related to specialty area(s) of assigned position, including but not limited to: utility installation, grading/site preparation, paving, etc. Ensure equipment maintenance inspections are completed to maintain equipment in safe operating condition. Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment; refer major problems to the shop.

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience: Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain a clean driving history required; Commercial drivers’ license preferred. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working in specialized construction field and/or related industry preferred. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred. State & City Water and Sewer Licenses preferred. Computer and/or mobile device experience, including use of MS Office, Android and iOS applications required.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects. Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear). Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Standing/working on feet for long periods (8 hours or more) and walking across uneven terrain. Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions. Some exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals. Frequent travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required.
